European Legal Values: Values, Ideas and Intellectual Heritage in Legal Scholarship was an international scientific conference organized by the Central European Academy of the University of Miskolc within the framework of the European Legal Values research project conducted by the St. Hedwig Research Group.

This conference brought together diverse research perspectives on the evolving European legal order. It explored European legal values and their intellectual, philosophical, and historical foundations, the recognition of foreign legal instruments across jurisdictions, and the complex interaction between national, international, and EU law. Particular attention was given to recent developments in Poland, examined in a broader comparative and European context.

The SUP Workshop was held on May 7–8. During the sessions, PhD students had the opportunity to present their ongoing research, outlining their progress, preliminary findings, and future objectives. Panel supervisors, along with fellow students, provided constructive feedback, insights, and suggestions, thereby supporting each presenter’s continued development while also contributing to the advancement of the wider academic community. The workshop was consistently characterized by a positive and engaging atmosphere. In addition to a strong emphasis on professional excellence, a spirit of collegiality and good humor also played an important role, fostering motivation and encouraging participants to further their academic and professional growth.

Human Rights Days II was the second annual international human rights conference organised by the Central European Academy of the University of Miskolc. The opening conference, held in 2025, marked the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the European Convention on Human Rights in Rome. This year’s conference celebrated the presentation of four human rights-themed books published in the book series “Human Rights – Children’s Rights” by the Central European Academic Publishing.

The “Layers and Crossroads of Legal Orders” program, held on 26–29 March 2026 in Cluj-Napoca, is an international academic event devoted to exploring the interaction of multiple legal systems in Europe. It brings together scholars and young researchers to examine how international, European Union, and national legal orders overlap, influence one another, and sometimes conflict across various fields of law.

The 31st National Meeting of Civil Law Teachers was successfully held on 25 March 2026 at the University of Miskolc, Faculty of Law. The event, conducted in Hungarian, was organized by the Departments of Commercial and Civil Law of the Institute of Civil Sciences, Faculty of Law, University of Miskolc, in cooperation with the Civil Law Working Committee of the Miskolc Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Central European Association for Comparative Law, and the Foundation for Legal Education in Miskolc.
The conference featured two sessions covering a wide range of contemporary issues in Hungarian company law. Scholars and professionals shared their research and insights, fostering meaningful discussions.

The conference aimed to provide a broad framework for reflection on the accountability of constitutional state organs in the context of Poland’s rule of law crisis. Its task was not only to present different legal regimes – constitutional, criminal, administrative, disciplinary, and international – but also to assess whether in practice they truly served the protection of the state and its citizens, or whether they had been weakened and politicized.

The scientific conference brought together leading experts to discuss the political, economic, and cultural dimensions of the “Three Seas Initiative”, a regional cooperation framework connecting Central and Eastern European countries. Topics included the foundations of a social market economy, judicial reforms, the historical roots of regional integration, and the role of cultural transformation in strengthening European unity.
