The study trip “Contemporary Legal Challenges in the Central Eastern European Region” (27–30 March 2025, Cluj-Napoca) brought together participants of the CEA Junior Programme—students engaged in advanced legal studies—for a combination of academic exchange and historical exploration. The programme featured a workshop with presentations on pressing legal issues in Central and Eastern Europe, including human rights, family law, labour law, and nuclear regulation, fostering comparative and interdisciplinary discussion. Complementing the academic sessions, participants explored key historical sites connected to Transylvania’s legal heritage, linking contemporary legal challenges with their historical and institutional context.

Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) – Status de lege lata and postulates de lege ferenda is the title of an international scientific conference organized by the Central European Academy as part of the research project entitled "The Regulation and Legal Practice of Assisted Reproductive Technologies and the Best Interests of the Child".

Despite the recent opening of accession negotiations with several candidate countries, the enlargement process has been largely stagnant over the past decade. The EU wants to give it a "new impetus". Among other initiatives, it has introduced the concept of "gradual integration" of perspective members. The conference discussed and analysed this initiative as well as other possible approaches to future enlargement. It sought to answer the fundamental question: how should the successful enlargement of the EU be managed?

Following the successful visits to Strasbourg and The Hague, the Central European Academy has organised another exciting study trip, this time to Luxembourg, 9-13 February 2025! The participants, PhD students from the Ferenc Deák Doctoral School of the Faculty of Law at the University of Miskolc and Scientific Researchers at the Central European Academy explored the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). As one of the most important institutions of the EU, the CJEU plays a key role in ensuring that EU law is applied fairly and consistently in the Member States.

The I Polish-Hungarian Scientific Forum launched a collaborative dialogue between Polish and Hungarian academics focusing on key legal issues. The event was part of the "Polish-Hungarian Research Platform", which presented the preliminary results of 5 research groups working on common challenges facing the two countries.

An international team of scientists working in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) in the framework of the Central European Professors' Network presented the first results of their work at a scientific conference. In their presentations, the scientists discussed various axiological, medical and, above all, legal aspects of the use of human reproductive technologies.

The conference "Equality in an Ever-Integrating Europe in General Terms" addressed one of the most pressing issues facing the European Union (EU): how to balance integration with the principle of equality between Member States. As the EU continues to evolve, the challenge is to treat all Member States equally, regardless of their size, wealth or historical context, while promoting closer cooperation. The research team behind this initiative aimed to explore whether this balance is achievable, particularly in the light of the growing debate about the EU's governance methods - whether intergovernmental or supranational - and the adequacy of its current operational structure.

From autumn 2024, the Central European Academy Professors' Network has launched 8 new research groups. The first of these groups was the conference of the "Successful EU Enlargement" group, entitled "EU Enlargement and Successful Integration: Lessons Learned".
