The increasing demand for comprehensive and long-term health care from an ageing population is contributing to the rising costs of the public health care system. This forces politicians not only to change their approach to the treatment of the elderly towards a coordinated and holistic healthcare system and to implement preventive measures to preserve the viability of the public health system, but also to change the way current and future seniors’ function.
